Last week I was contacted by Polly from TK Maxx asking me if I'd like to take part in a bloggers style challenge - one dress, four ways! - alongside The Style PA, My Fashion Life and Coco's Tea Party. She suggested the four themes - first date, work Christmas party, Grandmother's birthday and girls night out - and gave me a dress to style in the four looks.
I admit: while this is a perfectly nice dress, it is not my style at all and is something I'd never ever pick. This just made the challenge more interesting, though! How could I put my own sense of style on something so un-me?
So here's what I did...
I styled the first date piece imagining that it was MY first date! This is my favourite and is definitely the most me. I think the awkward-in-a-good-way pairing of clompy boots with a delicate dress and an over-sized cardigan would give him (err, the him if I wasn't happily taken, of course) a good idea of my style - and, hopefully, me!
Bag - Miss Selfridge
Cardigan - Topshop
Shoes - New Look
Belt - TK Maxx
I wanted to let the dress do most of the talking so I've paired it with black and gold accessories - all with chain to give the sweet dress a tougher edge. I actually submitted this outfit with just the shoes and bag as accessories but was told it was too bare so added the bracelets. Too many chains though, no? Oh well!
Shoes - Bronx
Clutch - Dune
Bracelets - Gogo Philip
For my girls night out I wanted something fresh and fun. I picked leopard print accessories to match with the colours of the dress and added in amazing - and comfortable - wedge heels (that I actually own - see my Hi, I'm Amy picture on the left!) so me and my girls could dance all night.
Hairband - Asos
Clutch - Lulu Guiness
Shoes - New Look
Tights - Mytights.com
For my (fake!) grandmothers birthday, I was imagining an occasion that was low-key, intimate and fun. I wanted to be comfy but still look cute and dressed down the dress with brown and flat boots and teamed it with cute bow accessories.
Bow - Topshop
Boots - Kate Kanzier
Necklace - Dotty K
Tights - ASOS
Don't forget to add TK Maxx on Twitter and Facebook - and please like my looks on there if you do! Which one is your favourite?
