I'm sad to say that Bettie Page, pin-up queen and renowned beauty, died yesterday at 3am at the age of 85.
She rose to fame after she posed in 1955 in Hugh Hefner's newly launched Playboy magazine and became one most photographed women of the last century, with thousands and thousands of photographs taken of her.
The beauty of Bettie Page has definitely had a style impact on me. I've long been in love with the Fifties and those short, sharp black bangs and ruby red lips have definitely acted as fashion inspiration for me. I've rocked her haircut before, though obviously not as well!
She is unique in that she's wooed several generations of men and women her through her beauty, playfulness and sensuality and has also managed to achieve that rare feat of being a woman that man lusted after and woman admired.
